| PRESS RELEASE FROM CORGI
Changes to ACS Entry Criteria
Date: 03/10/03 Author: Eric Holland
Following the Health and Safety Executive’s consultation on gas operative competence through their Competence Working Group G3, changes to the ACS entry criteria have been made which came into effect from the 1st August 2003. The following information builds on the article, which was published in the September 2003 edition of The Gas Installer Magazine.
One of the principle changes is that any operative intending to take ACS assessment must present suitable evidence to the Assessment Centre prior to taking assessment as proof of their experience in carrying out gas work.
For those operatives renewing expired or expiring certificates of gas safety competence, this will mean presenting original copies of their certificates to the assessment centre. Operatives, who have no previous certificates of gas safety competence and intend to take initial ACS assessment for the first time, must provide the assessment centre with sufficient evidence detailing their gas work experience, which must be appropriate to the area of assessment they intend to undertake (Domestic, Commercial, Catering or LPG).
Full details of the ACS entry criteria are set out below. The details are direct extracts from the ACS Operational Requirements for Certification Bodies Operating the Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme For Individual Gas Fitting Operatives.
