| Place: "1.2 million energy conscious consumers are waiting to hear from you"
Oh really. That's comforting if you're selling related products, but how do they know they are. It was the eminent ex-Baxi Head of Marketing, Gren Ward who coined the phrase 'distress purchase'. In other words a boiler goes belly-up and has to be replaced, resulting in less air miles at the next bank holiday. We strongly recommend you check that. If you find anyone who is energy conscious we'd love to run a feature on them.
Place: "With more than 300,000 readers, Place already
has the 2nd largest issue-by-issue circulation,
when compared to the leading home magazines."
Well not exactly. The first issue has not yet been rolled out, and don't forget no one has actually asked for it. All the other magazines really are magazines that people seek out and purchase for money. They are also listed at MediaUK (we checked). Place is not. We strongly recommend you check that.
Place: "With a minimum circulation of more than
300,000 new homeowners guaranteed each
issue we can ensure that as a result of our
unique method of distribution* the quality of the
readership is equal to the quantity."
Depends of course what they mean by quality. If they are hinting at 300,000 people breathless with worry about what to spend their money on, then maybe. Check how many of the 300,000 are actually tenants not inclined to fund improvements for the benefit of a Landlord. We strongly recommend you check that.
Place: "Every reader is a homeowner."
Are they. We strongly recommend you check that.
Place: "Every reader is actively spending on their home."
That's true, even if you live in a tent and run out of meths for the stove. If they mean 'im and 'er indoors are compulsive spenders, we strongly recommend you check that.
Place: "The homeowner
will receive Place with a valuable document that guarantees safe gas
appliance installation."
That proves CORGI are giving personal information to another company but we know already. The only thing that valuable document guarantees is that you will get more junk mail. Otherwise the valuable document is not worth the paper it is written on.
Place: "CORGI is the national watchdog for gas safety in the United Kingdom."
No they are not, they are administrators. The HSE is the national watchdog for gas safety in the United Kingdom.
Place: "Place is by far the
most cost-effective media, when compared to
the leading home magazines."
The reason it is cheaper is because it is simply A4 size junk mail and not in the same league as real magazines. Have a look at it. If you're going on a journey lash out on one of the real magazines listed in the media-pack or you'll be bored after ten minutes.
Place: "Distributed –
free of charge – to every homeowner in
the UK who has had a gas appliance
installed in their home."
Oh no it isn't, but to be fair that's not Shoreline's fault. However it is obviously a lie and a substantial one. Check how many gas appliances that should be notified, are actually sold per annum. |
