Gas Safe Register launched
Filed: 01.04.2009
Editor

April 2009 is the launch date for the new Gas Safe Register in Great Britain and Isle of Man (not Northern Ireland). Out goes CORGI. Full details can be seen at the Gas Safe Register website.

The whole CORGI brand was and still is privately owned, including any logo associated with CORGI. The new brand is wholly owned by the Government as it should be. The HSE is the natural home for the new Gas Safe Register.

Consumers should therefore look out for the new brand shown opposite. They are encouraged to visit the new website, which is gas-safety focused. The old CORGI regime delivered confusing messages which led many consumers to believe CORGI was a members' club for Installers.

Registered Gas Installers can expect a more streamlined regime, free from the self-interest and self-aggrandising focus that characterised CORGI, as reported from time to time on this website.
